VA loans have strict requirements

Like every home buyer, people associated with Veterans Affairs (VA) want certain things for their home.  However, if you have a VA loan, you need to be aware of what they will look for, as well.

VA loans come attached with several requirements.  The organization looks at certain things in order for a home to be eligible.  The Powell Group at Keller Williams of the Western Upstate of South Carolina wants you to be aware so there is no confusion later on.

The VA will do an appraisal.  They will not only determine the value of the house.  They will also look at the home itself and its surrounding area.

They want to make sure your house is safe.  Is there damage to the house?  If so, a quick fix could help the situation.  If not, the VA may not apply the loan to the house.

As was mentioned before, they will also examine the structure of the house.  Is the foundation solid?  How is the roof?  Are there pests that can damage the house?  All these questions – and others – will be on the appraiser’s mind when examining the house.  So, keep all of that in mind.

As many of us know, storms have caused water damage to the area.  Although they have passed, the damage they left behind could still linger.  Check out the water to see if it’s drinkable.  You should also look for any mold.  The VA will be hard-pressed to offer a loan with major water damage.

The Powell Group encourages you to talk with one of our team members.  We can help you find out if there are any issues that may be a problem regarding your VA loan.
