Lots of us have pets. Whether they be cats, dogs, hamsters or birds, we all love our little ones. But, if you’re selling your home, there are things you need to be aware of.
The Powell Group at Keller Williams of the Western Upstate of South Carolina has several tips that you will need to follow before you sign on the dotted line.
First of all, inspect your yard – both the front and the back. If you have dogs or cats, you already know what I mean. Unless you curb your pet all the time, you never know if a surprise will come up. It’s best to inspect your yard now. If a seller finds out the hard way, it could be a deal breaker.
Next, open the windows and use your favorite air freshener. You may have gotten used to lingering pet odors. However, your visitors and buyers will be hit with the odor right away. So deodorize your home. If air freshener doesn’t work, you’ll need to clean the carpet and furniture. If it’s really bad, replace it before the buyers come.
After that, clean up the pet hair. We all know that cats and dogs shed. Not only does it look bad to a buyer. It could also be a problem for anyone who is allergic. You don’t want people to have to leave because they can’t stop sneezing or react in other ways. It may be a hassle to clean up, but it’ll be worth it in the end.
Lastly, clean up all the toys. Buyers may love your pet too, but they will want to focus on your house – not all the toys laying around. So, put them aside when the buyers come.
The Powell Group knows you love your pets. After all, they are part of your family. But, if you’re selling your house, make sure it’s in great condition so you can impress the buyer. Our team members can help you through the process.
