Here in the Upstate, there are two things that Southerners love when it comes to food. Many of us love slow-cooked meals. We love the flavor that slow cookers can produce. Another is pie. Most Southerners love just about any kind of pie.
But, did you ever think of using your slow cooker to make one? No? Well, check out these tips from Jessica Tull and Better Homes and Gardens.
- Pumpkin Pie is delicious out of the slow cooker. For a golden-brown top, the editors suggest setting it on a baking sheet and broiling it for 3 – 4 minutes
- Remember the days when mom made her famous (to you) apple pie? Why not try it in the slow cooker with some berries added on top?
- For the chocolate lover, you can try a peppermint fudge pie complete with a mint-flavored whipped topping and a minty chocolate filling.
