If you’re looking to buy a house, there is no doubt you’ve received a lot of advice from friends and family. You may have devised a plan based on what you’ve heard from news and other resources. But, make no mistake. There are definitely some key factors worth paying attention to.
- If you want to buy, do so now. The housing market has improved by leaps-and-bounds since the bubble burst in 2008. In fact, in the Western Upstate, home buying is a popular activity. What is here one week, may be gone the next. So, it is best to put in an offer as soon as you see what could be your dream house.
- Use an agent. You may have an idea of the things you are looking for, and you may also have an idea of the price range. However, only an agent knows for sure. The Powell Group has seen home prices fluctuate very quickly, and we have also seen prices become affected by other homes and factors in the neighborhood. Come talk to us about the specific information you will need to make an informed decision.
- Get the house inspected. There are two reasons you’ll want to do this. First, in some cases, you’ll have to do it. For instance. If you need a loan to buy the house, the lender may require the house to be inspected. At that point, there is no getting around it. The other reason is all about logistics. It’s better to get it inspected before you move in to avoid any surprises. While the house may look great on the surface, an inspector will be able to check out what’s going on in places you may not have thought about. There may be reasons for that small hole in the wall. There also may be issues with the HVAC system that you didn’t think about. It’s always best to check out these possibilities before you sign on the dotted line.
The Powell Group encourages you to heed advice from the experts while looking for the home of your dreams. There are several in our area that we are sure will fit your list, and you can view them all on our website. Our team members are always here to answer all of your questions and concerns.
