Today is Astronomy Day for Spring 2016. Another one will come in the fall. While many of us enjoy looking out at the night sky and stars, fewer people understand what’s out there. For those that wonder, this day is for you.
While many of us enjoy looking out at the night sky and stars, fewer people understand what’s out there. For those that wonder, this day is for you.
According to skyandtelescope.com, “Astronomy Day dates back to 1973, when Doug Berger, then president of the Astronomical Association of Northern California, decided to take advantage of local resources to ‘bring astronomy to the people.'”
Today is all about exploring the planets and the universe beyond what we know here on Earth.
There are many ways to observe the day. You can look up at the stars with a friend or you can get out that old telescope to view the stars and planets up close.
There are also astronomy classes available at several learning institutions. Clemson University has a whole major and several classes devoted to the subject.
But, have you thought about joining an astronomy club? South Carolina has several clubs that teach you about the Universe beyond our planet. Contact your local club for more information.
The Powell Group invites you to gain as much knowledge about our mysterious universe and contact your local astronomy experts. While in the area, you may also view one of our area’s beautiful homes. Our team members are here to answer any of your housing questions or concerns.
In the meantime, head on up to your roof or local green space area to view the stars more clearly.
