January and February will bring many galas and festivities in the coming weeks. According to the Anderson Independent Mail, several events will be held to raise money for different purposes.
- Winter Night Gala at the Anderson County Museum – 7 p.m. Friday – Anderson County Museum – Staff will bring “a touch of old-world class to the halls…to get a glimpse of Anderson County’s history. Hors D’ouvres and non-alcoholic beverages will be served, and live music will be played.” It is a black-tie optional event. Tickets are $100 for “Anderson County Museum Friends” and $125 for all others For more information, call 864-260-4737.

- Camellia Ball at the Bleckley Inn – 8 p.m. Feb. 6 – Bleckley Inn – The 22nd-anniversary ball will feature decorations, food and music. It will benefit the AnMed Health Pediatric Therapy Works, “a group dedicated to providing specialized therapy for children with developmental delays and disorders like Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida and other conditions both genetic and neurological.” This year’s event will feature a New Orleans/Big Easy theme and will feature food, drink and live music. It will also feature the “reveal of the Camillia art by a local or regional artists and the option of purchasing a print of the newest addition to the Camillia wall at AnMed Health.” Call the AnMed Health Foundation at 864.512.3477.
- Mardi Gras in the Electric City at the Civic Center of Anderson – 7 p.m. Feb. 19 – Presented by Meals on Wheels, this New Orleans- themed party will have everything you would expect from a Mardi Gras celebration with masks, Cajun food, drinks and decorations. The celebration will also feature street vendors, a dance party and other Mardi Gras fare. A silent auction will also be held and the money will benefit Meals On Wheels along with a gift-basket raffle. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at www.acmow.org.
