One of the most popular streets in Liberty is back in business. After having a lot of construction in the area, Commerce Street in the Pickens County city has reopened.
According to Ron Barnett of The Greenville News, the street is getting ready for a grand celebration of its refurbishing, “Liberty for All”, on Saturday, Apr. 9 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Despite the high cost and long time that took place, residents say it was worth it.
The merchants of the street, which runs between State 93 and Front Street, were hardest hit. Several closed because the blocked access to nearby parking spaces slowed business. However, the construction replaced sewer lines, street asphalt and lighting, which now features antique-style street lights.
